Every thread has a beginning. His began in Kathmandu in 1995, years before the world learned to ask for Nepali cashmere by name.
Chapter I · Kathmandu
An adventurer's bet on cashmere.
Dinesh Tuladhar has always been an adventurer of sorts. In 1995 he began working with cashmere in Kathmandu, at a time when Nepal's cashmere trade was still small and the export boom that would make Nepali pashmina famous was years away.
Weavers began calling his yarn by his name: Dinesh Tuladhar ko dhago. The thread of Dinesh Tuladhar.
Chapter II · The Valley
Nepal never lacked craftsmanship.
In the Kathmandu Valley, Newar artisans have carved timber, cast bronze and shaped brick and stone for centuries. In the 13th century a young Newar artist, Araniko, was called to the court of Kublai Khan, where he helped design Beijing's White Stupa.
UNESCO describes the Valley's “craftsmanship in brick, stone, timber and bronze” as “some of the most highly developed in the world.” Dinesh Tuladhar's idea was simple: bring those hands, and that patience, to cashmere.

Mongolia is the world's second-largest source of raw cashmere. Its goats grow a long, fine undercoat to survive the winters of the steppe. He went there to find fibre worthy of Nepali hands.

Sobha Exclusive, LLC
Where the thread arrives.
Craft from Nepal, fibre from Mongolia and lessons from Singapore, brought together in one company, formed in the United States in 2025.
Chapter III · The United States
Sobha Exclusive, LLC is born.
Thirty years after that first thread in Kathmandu, Dinesh Tuladhar decided to take Nepali craftsmanship to the United States. In 2025, Sobha Exclusive, LLC was founded with SCC to do exactly that.
Its cashmere carries a slightly different name, Dineesh Tuladhar. The brand launched in the United States that same year and is sold at dineeshtuladhar.com and on Amazon.
He is a quiet man, and would rather you feel the fibre than hear about him.
